Woman Altered Check From Long Valley School, Police Say
The check was written by West Morris Central High School and was intercepted and changed from $350 to $4,800, according to police.
LONG VALLEY, NJ — A woman from the Bronx in New York was charged on Thursday in connection with an altered check that was written by West Morris Central High School, according to the Washington Township Detective Bureau.
The woman, who has not been identified publicly, intercepted the check, which was intended to pay for a sporting event in New York, and changed the amount from $350 to $4,800, according to police.
The check was eventually deposited and then withdrawn from a bank in New York, police said.

Following an investigation, detectives were able to trace the check's path, which led them to the suspect. The woman was charged with third-degree theft on a complaint summons and was given a court date in Morris County Superior Court, police said.
