Discolored Water In Madison? Could Be Hydrant Flushing
Residents may notice a discoloration in the water when hydrants will be flushed in their areas of town, officials said.
MADISON, NJ — The Madison Water Department's annual fire hydrant and main flushing program begins today and is expected to last six weeks, according to officials.
According to the water department, flushing fire hydrants removes minerals and sediment that have accumulated over time, contributing to the long-term health of the borough water utility and should cause minimal inconvenience to all residents.
While hydrant flushing does not usually disrupt water service, residents may notice a temporary drop in water pressure while crews are working in the area.
