Madison Public Library Opening by Appointment Only

The Madison Public Library will be opening by appointment only on July 7th. We will be open for browsing appointments and for computer use appointments. While we will be open for appointments, we still strongly encourage patrons to use our contactless pickup service. We will still be operating on our limited hours of Tuesday/Wednesday 12-8, Thursday/Friday 10-6 and Saturday 10-2.

To browse by appointment, email either reference@madison.mainlib.org (for adult/teen) or childrens@madison.mainlib.org (for children services) or you can call us at 973-377-0722. Appointments will be held at the top of every hour for 45 minutes. You may wait in the courtyard for up to 15 minutes until your appointment. Please arrive on time as appointments will not be extended. At the time of your appointment, a staff member will check you in and you may enter the building to browse for your allotted 45 minutes. Please confirm with a staff member that your appointment has been received.

To use one of our two computers (standard computer and scanning computer) please contact reference@madison.mainlib.org or 973-377-0722. Computer use is only allowed in the adult room for 45 minutes. You must note which computer you will need to use. Computer sessions are limited to one a day.

If you choose to visit us in person, we ask that you adhere to these guidelines, for the safety of all:

-restrooms are not available for public use

-face masks must be worn at all times in compliance with Executive Order 157

-social distancing should be maintained: at least six feet apart

-hand sanitizer will be available at the entrance and must be used upon entering

-study and meeting rooms are not available

-working, studying and tutoring are not permitted inside the building

-seating and coffee service are not available

-lingering is discouraged, please keep your visit as short as reasonably possible

Browsing and computer use are separate appointments. Please book accordingly.
