Multicultural Festival Highlights Diversity, Unites Madison Community

Madison has formally agreed to collaborate with Chatham to host a joint culture and diversity festival, building on last year's success.

MADISON, NJ — Following the success of the Chatham Train Station event last June, Madison has joined Chatham to host a joint culture and diversity festival this fall outside the Hartley Dodge Memorial building on Kings Road in Madison.

The festival will be held on Sept. 10, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., with a rain date of Sept. 11, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The event will honor not only cultural diversity but also neurodiversity and the LGBTQ community, according to Madison Borough Councilwoman Debra Coen, who spoke at a recent council meeting.

"We are going to close off Kings Road between Prospect and Green Avenue so that we can celebrate all of the cultural diversity in the community. We reached out to the schools as well to get some of the cultural groups there involved," Coen said.

This family-friendly event, co-hosted by Chatham, will feature multicultural entertainment, speakers, food vendors, and booths hosted by local organizations featuring fun, creative activities for all.

There will be no admission fee, but attendees should expect to pay for food and beverages, as well as a small fee for some activities.

The event's goal is to promote empathy and inclusion within the community by learning about different cultural groups.
