New 2019 Data Shows Heroin Abuse Cases In Madison
Each year the list of NJ communities shows heroin use exists in all corners of the state - large, small, urban and suburban.
MADISON, NJ - New Jersey has released its annual list of heroin-abuse cases reported by each community, revealing the most recent data of reported cases.
Using this 2018 data, the most recent available, Patch put together a list of towns with the most heroin abuse cases per 1,000 people. According to the figures, Madison ranked 527 out of a list of 548 towns with a scored of .37 per 1,000 people. Using the same stats, Patch assembled a list of towns with the highest-to-lowest number of cases. There Madison ranked 471 out of 548 towns with a reported six cases. This number is down from 15 cases reported in 2017 and equal to the six cases reported in 2016.
The statistics were recently released by the Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services in the New Jersey Department of Human Services, and they're based on the number of people seeking treatment for heroin abuse.

The state Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services have cautioned that these numbers are reported by each community, so each jurisdiction is responsible for reporting its results fairly and accurately. Please note that Patch did not include towns that had no reported cases.
