There are plenty of things to do with the Madison Public Library's digital collection.
Research and Reading
Being at home is a good time to get some work done and catch up with family but it is also a good time to take advantage of library databases. The library has over 20 databases that are offered for free to patrons. While we are closed, we will be providing weekly write ups on some of our favorite and most used databases. We will also be providing book recommendations for patrons to consider downloading through Hoopla, RBdigital and CloudLibrary.

The Madison Public Library offers full access to Consumer Reports online, an independent, nonprofit member organization that works side by side with consumers for truth, transparency, and fairness in the marketplace. The classic, subscription based, paper form of the periodical is now fully available online, allowing users to save money and time by accessing it digitally. Users now can make well informed decisions when purchasing items. The current homepage of Consumer Reports is focused on how to use an air purifier if someone is sick in your home with COVID-19. One of the many reasons to enjoy Consumer Reports is that while they are mainly focused on giving product reviews, they also provide incredibly informative articles about current events and how that related to product use and purchasing.

The Tale Teller by Anne Hillerman (available on Hoopla and CloudLibrary)- Martha, our Circulation Assistant is currently reading The Tale Teller. “If you read the Tony Hillerman series and liked them, Anne, Tony’s daughter has picked up with the same characters and done a good job. Great descriptions of Southwest and Native American culture.”
(available on Hoopla and CloudLibrary)- Danielle, our Adult Services Librarian is currently reading Afterlife. “The main character loves literature and is a retired college English teacher. When her sister goes missing and an undocumented teenager shows up in her place, Antonia’s life spins out of control. Not to mention her husband has just passed. I like this book because it focuses on a woman’s love of words and literature and how it interacts in her bizarre new life.”
