Last year, StrangeDog presented another Clawson play, "Omnivores," at the Madison theater. Parks also performed in that show.

Clawson is a 2007 graduate of Montclair State University, and StrangeDog is composed of MSU graduates.

Playwrights Theatre's artistic director John Pietrowski said the theater company has been working with StrangeDog for the past three years. "We're very excited to host their new evening by Ben Clawson. They always put on a great provocative evening."

Playwrights Theatre's reading series of 16 new plays begins next week. Staged readings are scheduled at 7 p.m. Nov. 30-Dec. 5, Dec. 8-12 and Dec. 15-19 at the Madison theater and will be followed by discussions with the author and audience.

The first week features work by New Jersey writers, including John Wooten, artistic director of Premiere Stages in Union, and three writers from the master of fine arts program at the Mason Gross School at Rutgers University: Samuel Brett Williams, Lia Romeo and Carrie Louise Nutt.

The schedule also includes "A User's Guide to Hell Starring Bernie Madoff," by Lee Blessing, author of the Tony and Pulitzer nominee "A Walk In The Woods," on Dec. 10 and "Mickey and Jean" by Richard Dresser, who wrote "Rounding Third," on Dec. 9. Russell Davis, who wrote "Mahida's Extra Key To Heaven," which was produced at Playwrights Theatre last spring, will be represented by "Trespasser in a Promised Land" on Dec. 8.

Tickets for one reading are $10, while a $25 Forum Pass allows entry to all of the readings. Make reservations online at www.ptnj.org or by calling (973) 514-1787 ext. 10.
