Thursday Morning Club Awards 2026 George Burroughs Scholarship to Three Madison High School Seniors

The Thursday Morning Club is proud to announce the recipients of the 2026 Thursday Morning Club/Madison Community House – George Burroughs Scholarship. The scholarship, which is awarded annually to High School seniors who reside in Madison, recognizes students who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to volunteerism and community service.

This year, three Madison High School students were selected to receive the scholarship and were recognized at the Annual Madison High School Awards Ceremony held on June 4, 2026.

The 2026 George Burroughs Scholarship recipients are:

• Alexandra Porio
• Rebecca Axler
• Modi Shi

Named in honor of George Burroughs, a dedicated community volunteer whose legacy of service continues to inspire others, the scholarship is awarded to students who embody the values of volunteerism, leadership, and civic engagement. "The George Burroughs Scholarship celebrates students who understand the value of giving back," said Olga Soriano, Thursday Morning Club President. "We are proud to recognize Alexandra, Rebecca, and Modi for their commitment to service and look forward to seeing the positive impact they will continue to make in their communities."

Although each student volunteered in different settings, they shared a common outcome: developing self-confidence, strengthening leadership skills, building meaningful relationships, and contributing positively to their community. These experiences have prepared them well for their future endeavors and will serve them throughout their college years and beyond.
