Girl Helicoptered To Hospital After Car With 4 Teens Crashes In Mahwah: Police

Police are seeking witnesses after a car with four teenagers crashed into a pole in Bergen County over the weekend.

MAHWAH, NJ — A teenage girl had to be brought to a local hospital by medivac helicopter on Friday night after the car she was riding in with three other teens crashed into a telephone pole, police said.

The Mahwah police received a 911 call Friday around 11:07 p.m. about a serious motor vehicle accident near 846 Darlington Ave., said Lt. Michael Blondin.

Police arrived to find a single vehicle that had crashed into a telephone pole, Blondin said.

Three of the four teens who were in the car had gotten out, but a rear passenger, a girl from Ramsey, was trapped, Blondin said. The Mahwah Fire Department extricated her and brought her to a helicopter landing zone at Ramapo College.

She was then medivaced to St. Joseph's Hospital for further care, Blondin said.

The other three teens were taken to Valley Hospital in Ridgewood.

Crash investigation units from the Mahwah Police Department Bergen County Sheriff's Office responded.

The investigation is ongoing and police declined to release more information. However, they are asking anyone who may have witnessed anything related to the crash to call the Mahwah Police Department at 201-529-1000.
