John Roth Endorsed By District 39th Team

Roth, who is running in the mayoral recall election, said he was 'thrilled' to receive the endorsement.

MAHWAH, NJ — The 39th Legislative District state representatives have endorsed John Roth for Mayor.

District representatives are: Senator Gerry Cardinale, Assemblywoman Holly Schepisi, and Assemblyman Robert Auth.

"I am thrilled to have the endorsement of these outstanding, devoted public servants and look forward to working with them in the future," Roth said.

Roth is running against incumbent William Laforet in a mayoral recall election. The recall is the result of a grassroots group of residents who want to see the question of should Laforet continue as mayor posed to voters before his second term in office is up. At a candidates night Monday Roth said officials need to make the downtown more serviceable and does not think there is room for hundreds of apartment units there. (See related: Laforet, Roth Share What They Want For Mahwah's Future)

Roth said he wants to regularly meet with residents and hold town hall-style meetings if elected.

Roth and Laforet ran against one another in the 2016 mayoral election. Laforet narrowly defeated Roth. (See related: Election Results: William Laforet Wins Mahwah Mayoral Race)

Roth previously served on the Planning Board, Board of Education, and Town Council for a total of 19 years.
