Kaepernick......and the NFL

the NFL's itch that wont go away

Kaepernick and the NFL

The Colin Kaepernick/National Anthem saga continues to cast a large shadow over sports in general and the NFL in particular. Due to what he describes as racial injustice the former Forty Whyners QB decided not to stand for the national anthem as it’s played before each game. Kaepernick walked away from a multi-million dollar contract through an opt out provision that was his right but no NFL team has made any effort to acquire the free agent

There are those that maintain that Kaepernick is deliberately being black balled from the NFL because of his stance on the anthem. Some say his talent has regressed some since the Forty Whyners met the Baltimore Ravens in the Super Bowl. Some say Kaepernick misread the market on his diminishing talent and simply should have not decided to opt out. You know what? Everybody is right!

If Kaepernick’s talents had no regressed at all, his anthem stance would be tolerated. Is that right? No. But when you become an itch to the backs of NFL owners sometimes you are not needed if you are in decline. His stance on the anthem is in direct opposition to that of the NFL and the Niners. Those of us who go to work follow the rules our bosses implement, right? I mean if one is supposed to start work at 9 and decides to begin his day at 12 he would be notified of his transgression, don’t you agree? I should point out here that the NFL entered into a cushy money deal with our government for the pre game festivities, teams weren’t always on the field when the anthem was played. Regardless when you are being compensated for your efforts at work, we all work for our bosses. Without question Kaepernick misread the market and the loss of coach Harbaugh back to the college ranks of Michigan University made his shortcomings a lot more visible---and expensive.

The bottom line is this—as private citizens we have the right to protest and say what we feel however when we agree to working situations we pander to the wishes of those that pay us,,,,,
