N.J. High Schools Cleared Following Bomb Threats Friday

More bomb threats were reported at several North Jersey schools on Friday morning. Similar incidents happened in January and February.

MAHWAH, NJ – Bomb threats have been cleared at several North Jersey high schools Friday afternoon, the Bergen County Sheriff's Office said.

Threats were made against several North Jersey and Bergen County high schools Friday morning, authorities confirmed.

Bomb threats were reported at the following high schools: Dwight Morrow in Englewood, Teaneck, Paramus Catholic, Oradell, Mahwah, Waldwick, and Hackensack, said sheriff’s spokesman Anthony Cureton.

The Record reported that River Dell High School in Oradell, Waldwick High School, Haledon’s Manchester Regional High School, and Passaic Valley High School in Little Falls also received threats.

Bomb-sniffing dogs and sheriff’s officers were at the high schools searching for suspicious materials. Cureton did not know what schools were evacuated and which ones were locked down.

Twenty-six threats were made against Bergen County middle and high schools in January. Threats were also made to multiple schools in late February.

Calls came from a robotic, computer-generated voice that threatened violence in the form of shootings and bombs and threats against law enforcement.
