UPDATE: Probes Continue As Students Return After Bomb Threats At North Jersey High Schools

Students started returning to class Friday after several North Jersey schools had bomb threats, and at least two were on lockdown.
The Bergen County Sheriff’s Office said bomb threats at Bergenfield, Hackensack, Mahwah, Teaneck, and Waldwick schools have been searched and cleared.
Authorities from several police departments said their investigations into the apparent widespread “swatting” incidents were ongoing.

The FBI was reportedly assisting Bergen County in its investigation of bomb threats, Doreen Holder, a public information officer for the federal agency, told The Record.
Bergenfield police said the department’s bomb squad completed its work on the scene, and no bomb was located. “Students will be returning to school shortly,” the department said on Twitter.

“Bomb threat for BHS. Students being evacuated to a safe location. Police on scene, bomb squad notified and responding,” Bergenfield police reported on Twitter.
The Hackensack Police Department, after evacuating the high school, conducted sweeps and deemed it safe.
Detectives from the Hackensack Police Department are investigating this threat and have made contact with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s office and the NJ State Police.
Bergenfield police reported that parents were encouraged to stay clear of the high school area to allow emergency personnel to work during the threat.
“Multiple agencies across Bergen County have received a similar threat. All precautions are being taken, Bergenfield police said on Twitter.
Police confirmed that Teaneck High School was also on lockdown, but would only say the investigation was continuing.
Some, such as Scanner News NJ LLC (@scannernewsnj), identified the issue as a possible bomb threat.
Efforts to reach the Teaneck school were unsuccessful. Calls to the principal’s office were not answered.
A similar situation happened a month ago when New Jersey schools in nine towns were subject to 26 threats of violence Tuesday, Bergen County Sheriff Michael Saudino said during a press conference.
Threats were reported in Garfield, Englewood, Teaneck, Bergenfield, Hackensack, Tenafly, Leonia, Clifton, and Sayerville.
