A Tribute to the King James, of Basketball
Growing up as a diehard New York Knickerbockers’ fan in this area, it’s almost hard to remember when we were the kings of pro basketball--- I’m talking the Frazier, Reed, and De Busshere Knicks. During the 90’s there was only one thing, er person that prevented us from getting more championship rings. Michael Jordan. His Airness personally gave us Knick fans more pain and suffering than anyone else, even coming back from a stint in minor league baseball and torch us for 55 at the Garden. At least we have been able to say we got beat by the greatest of all time---it may be finally time to edit that statement.
Since the 80’s I now have to say that Lebron James is the greatest basketball player I have seen, even though it is still tough for me to say. This week King James leads the overachieving Cleveland Cavaliers to take on the Golden State Warriors for the fourth consecutive time in the NBA championship series. The Cavs are a decided underdog---again.

The reasoning behind our elevation of Lebron to supreme status is because of his size, speed, strength, and will to win that enables him to succeed with just about any arrangement of mediocre talent. This is his eighth straight trip to the finals and in the eyes of many pundits possibly his best achievement due to the lack of talent that surrounds him.
On the surface the high powered Warriors with Curry, Durant, Thompson, and Green seem to be a clear favorite choice to win it all again, I am not in a hurry to bet against Lebron. Somehow the Warriors appeared unprepared and/or uninterested in last night’s game7 at Houston. Although they prevailed I was shocked that they could be so casual playing for their playoff lives. While I give the Warriors the nod in picking a winner for this series I expect it to be tougher than most people--- I see it going at least 6 games and, like I said I’m not betting against Lebron
