A New Jersey man was busted this weekend after striking and killing a man with his truck near a rest area, police said.
A New Jersey man was busted this weekend after striking and killing a man with his truck near a rest area, police said.
New York State Police in Haverstraw and Tarrytown arrested Scott Spooner, 59, of Vineland for leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident on Sunday, New York State Police said.
Spooner was operating a 2009 Kenworth Tractor Trailer southbound on the N.Y. State Thruway that struck Paul Peacock, 54, of New York, N.Y. near the Ramapo Rest Area at around 4 a.m. on Sunday, police said.

Investigators located Spooner and his vehicle at approximately 12:15 p.m. on Sunday while checking the area truck stops. The damaged Kenworth was found in the Pilot Travel Center on State Route 17 in Mahwah, police said.
NYSP were assisted by the Mahwah Police Department. Spooner was arraigned in the Village of Sloatsburg Court and remanded to Rockland County Jail on $25,000.00 bail.
