Operation Fall Cleanup Nets 41 Arrests: Mahwah Police
Police stepped up patrols at parking lots, hotels, truck stops and other areas. The arrested led to various drug-related charges.

MAHWAH, NJ — Forty-one people were arrested during Operation Fall Cleanup by township police that targeted parking lots and other local areas.
A plainclothes police unit led by Detective Sgt. Kevin Hebert focused on commercial and hotel parking lots, truck stops and other "localized areas," said Chief James Batelli.
The 41 arrests led to 86 criminal charges being filed, Batelli said. The criminal charges ranged from providing false information to law enforcement, possession of heroin, possession of hash oil and other drug possession and court contempt warrants, the chief said.

"This is another example of the great work Mahwah Police Officers do every day to enhance the quality of our neighborhoods and keep the community safe," Batelli said.
Besides the criminal arrests, 30 motor vehicle summonses were issued and more than $4,000 collected," Batelli said.

Investigations continue in town and other nearby jurisdictions.
Officers assigned to the detail included K-9 Dome and his handler Officer Rober Rapp, Detectives Eric Larsen and Michael Grassi and Officers David Vega, Christopher Fasulo, Jonathan Weber, Timothy Letavish, John Rodriguez and Luke Rice.
