Police Department To Get New Drug-Sniffing Dog
Mahwah Municipal Alliance gives police $9,600 to purchase dog.

The Mahwah Municipal Alliance (MMA) will purchase a new drug-sniffing dog for the Mahwah Police Department.
The Township Council approved a measure Thursday allowing the Alliance give the town $9,600 to purchase the dog. The town did not allocate funds in the 2015 budget to get a new dog. The dog may also be used to help track and locate people.
The department’s last dog, Dome, retired last year after eight years of service due to health problems. Dome was paired with Officer Robert Rapp. The new dog will be paired with Rapp as well.
