WAYNE, NJ — Wayne residents are "horrified" after footage of strippers at the Passaic County Golf Course surfaced during what was billed as a fundraiser.

Footage from NBC4 shows strippers performing lap dances and other lewd acts, including groping, in public view during a July 25 fundraiser to raise money for various charities, including the victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando and members of the Dallas Police Department.

A representative from the club could not be reached for comment.

Wayne Mayor Chris Vergano said that the event was "a totally inappropriate use of Passaic County parklands."

According to a promotional flyer, it was the sixth time the event was held. The flyer said there would be "30 sexy entertainers" there. The club said the entertainers were dressed in golf apparel and acted as caddies.

In an Aug. 1 Facebook post, the club said the event was "another successful and meaningful day for all that participated."

Passaic County Administrator Anthony De Nova could not be reached for comment directly, but he told NBC4 that it would "be the last time" the tournament would be held at the golf course.

County spokesman Keith Furlong said that the amount of "undress" seen in video NBC filmed was "inappropriate for any golf course."

"County staff would have removed these golfers if it saw this going on," Furlong said.

Bernard said that the previous golf outings were "a complete success" and "benefitted a number of charity organizations" and the Passaic County Sheriff's Dept. and the Paterson PBA Local 1.

NBC4's Sarah Wallace said that neighbors of the taxpayer-supported course who watched the video were "horrified." One resident who said she lived in the neighborhood for 57 years "never saw something like that." Others said it did not bother them.

According to philly.com, the county vowed to examine policies and procedures for future course events.
