Man Hit, Killed By Car On Rt. 33 In Manalapan

The 38-year-old man was hit by two cars at 7:20 p.m. near the intersection of Woodward Road, according to the county prosecutor.

MANALAPAN, NJ — A man was struck by a car and killed on Rt. 33 in Manalapan Wednesday night: He was hit by two cars at 7:20 p.m. near the intersection of Woodward Road, said the county prosecutor.

The 38-year-old Newark man was outside of the marked crosswalk when he was hit, and both cars had the green light. He was struck by a 2017 Toyota Rav 4, driven by a 32-year-old Neptune woman. Following the initial collision, a 2017 Lexus RX, driven by a 54-year-old woman from East Windsor, was travelling behind the Rav 4 and also struck the man who was in the roadway.

His name was not released.

He was pronounced deceased at the scene at 7:37 p.m. Both drivers remained at the scene and neither was charged.

Just last month, on Jan. 27, another Manalapan man was hit by a car, that time at the intersection of Rt. 9 and Taylors Mills Road. That accident happened at approximately 9:20 p.m. on a Monday night. The victim, identified by police as Shamil Semenduyev, 36, of Manalapan, was crossing Rt. 9 when he was struck by a driver traveling north.

That man survived, but was critically injured.

As Patch has reported, the intersection of Rt. 33 and Woodward Road is known to residents and police for being dangerous. Between 2014 and 2016, three people were hit and killed by cars while attempting to cross that intersection.
