Student Attacks Another With Pen at Manalapan High School, Police Say

The teen required medical treatment, and a 15-year-old sophomore was charged with aggravated assault.

MANALAPAN, NJ - A Manalapan High School sophomore attacked a fellow student with a pen Thursday, Township police said.

At approximately 12:45 p.m. Thursday, officers were dispatched to the high school for a report of a fight that had previously occurred between students. A 15-year-old male sophomore student had physically assaulted a 16-year-old male sophomore student while they were walking in the hallway between classes, police said. The younger boy stabbed the older teen in the head with a pen, Capt. Thomas Barstow of the Manalapan PD confirmed to Patch.

The 15-year-old student was subsequently arrested and transported to the Manalapan Township Police Department where he was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon, before being remanded to the Middlesex County Youth Detention Facility.

The older student was released to his parent and received medical attention for injuries that he sustained to his head.
