New Jersey's a great place to get a slice. But it doesn't have to be just pizza.
Indeed, the Garden State that prides itself for its tomatoes also touts something that's unique in the Northeast: tomato pies.
USA Today has come up with a list of the 10 best places to get them, noting that a tomato pie comes in two "sub-variations." And its not always a thick carbon copy of a pizza.

The Trenton-style tomato pie typically starts with a thin and crispy crust, topped with mozzarella cheese followed by crushed tomatoes on top, USA Today says.
The Philly bakery style, also popular in parts of New Jersey, is made with a thick, focaccia-like crust topped with chunky tomato sauce and little or no cheese, according to the publication.

A panel of experts partnered with USA Today to pick the initial 20 nominees, and the top 10 winners were determined by popular vote. Experts included Marla Cimini (USA TODAY), Jenna Intersimone (MyCentralJersey.com and DailyRecord.com) and Stephanie Vermillion (The Wanderlost Way).
