• Flood-prone Manasquan prepares for incoming nor'easter (news12.com) — Manasquan officials have activated neighborhood warning lights and readied high-water trucks as an incoming nor'easter is expected to flood low-lying streets during several high tides. Residents are urged to move vehicles from flood-prone areas, since even minor events here can damage cars and complicate emergency response when ocean and back-bay waters rise together.
   

• Syringes wash up on beaches in Shore towns (starnewsgroup.com) — Manasquan residents recently saw about 60 syringes wash up near the Manasquan Inlet, part of a broader debris problem affecting several Jersey Shore beaches. Officials and environmental groups blame heavy rains and combined sewer overflows upstream, and they're urging locals to report any needles they see while also promoting upcoming volunteer beach sweeps to keep the shoreline safer.
