In Manasquan, The Dog Days Are Over

Prohibiting dogs is one step in preparing local beaches for summer

Move over, Rover. As of today, dogs will no longer be allowed on the beach in Manasquan.

In the past several weeks, Manasquan Police Department special officers have taken to borough beaches, explaining to dog owners that as of March 31 their pets are no longer welcome on the sand. Pets will be allowed back on beaches after Oct. 31.

Pooches hardly got a taste of the season this year, as lingering cold and frequent rain have marred the days of early spring, though Manasquan canines have something else to howl about.
