Last Day To Register To Vote

County residents have until 9 p.m. Tuesday to register to vote in the upcoming elections, officials said.

The Monmouth County Voter Registration Office, 300 Halls Mills Rd. in Freehold, will be open and accepting registrations from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. for anyone who has not previously registered to vote.

Residents will need to provide a valid New Jersey driver's license or Motor Vehicle Commission identification or Social Security number.

You may register to vote if:

• You are a U.S. citizen
• You will be at least 18 years old by the next election
• You will be a resident of Monmouth County 30 days prior to the election
• You are not currently incarcerated, on probation or parole because of a felony conviction.

The whole of the state legislature and numerous municipal seats statewide are up for grabs in the Nov. 8 general elections.

In Manasquan, incumbent Democrat Mayor George Dempsey will seek reelection against Republican challenger and current councilwoman Patricia Connolly.

Two former Democratic councilman, Mike Mangan and Joe Bossone, will also seek to return to the borough's governing body facing Republican newcomers Pamela Lewis and Richard Norris.

Republican Joe Lucas and Democrat Jee Lee, both current councilmen, opted not to seek reelection.

In Belmar, Councilwoman Jennifer Nicolay, a Democrat, will run uncontested for a one-year term in her current seat. Nicolay was appointed in January by Mayor Matt Doherty to fill his unexpired council term.

Councilman Richard Wright, a Republican, will not seek reelection. Vying for his seat will be Republican Jim Bean and Democrat Connie Gutierrez.
