• Shark hook nearly snags swimmer (starnewsgroup.com) — A Manasquan resident swimming off Sea Girt recently became tangled in a fishing line and discovered a large shark hook attached near an outflow pipe. He raised concerns about shark fishing and beach safety at a Sea Girt council meeting, prompting police and lifeguards to step up monitoring for lines and hooks to better protect swimmers and surfers.
