• Syringes Wash Up, Close Beach To Swimming At Jersey Shore (patch.com) — Manasquan beachgoers are being kept out of the water after more than 60 syringes washed ashore, prompting officials to halt swimming while agencies test and monitor conditions. Local emergency management, county health officials, and the state DEP will reassess water safety after two high tides, with an update expected before Sunday's beach opening and clear instructions to follow lifeguard directions and report environmental concerns.
