2 Marines Released From Hospital After Helicopter Crash Near Joint Base MDL

The two pilots are in good condition after the crash that happened near Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, a Marine Corps spokesman said.

JOINT BASE McGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, NJ — Two U.S. Marine Corps pilots injured in a helicopter crash near the Joint Base have been released from the hospital, an official said Monday.

The two pilots "are in good condition," said Marine Corps Lt. Col. Craig Thomas, spokesman for the Marine Corps Reserve and the Marine Forces South.

The crash happened about 3:30 p.m. Thursday when an AH-1Z with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron (HMLA) 773, Marine Aircraft Group 49, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Forces Reserve, crashed outside the base in Wrightstown.

Thomas described the incident only as "a mishap." The crash remains under investigation.
