2 Suffer Smoke Inhalation During House Fire In Manchester
The fire early Tuesday forced the family into temporary housing, police said.

MANCHESTER, NJ — Two people suffered smoke inhalation after a fire escaped a fire in their home in Whiting early Tuesday, Manchester police said.
The fire on Delaware Avenue in the Roosevelt City section was reported at 4:04 a.m., Capt. Albert Vega said. Officers found flames and smoke emanating from the home and confirmed the residents had safely evacuated and that there were no pets left inside, he said.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire before it could spread to vehicles or any other homes, he said.

EMTs from Manchester Township Medical Services treated both residents for smoke inhalation, Vega said. They declined any further medical attention.
The cause of the fire had not been determined as of Tuesday morning. Vega said it was being investigated by the Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Manchester Township Police Department Investigations Bureau.

The Red Cross of New Jersey was helping the residents with emergency assistance for temporary lodging, food, clothing, and other immediate needs, Vega said.
The Whiting Volunteer Fire Department, Manchester Volunteer Fire Department, Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department, Joint Base Fire Department, New Egypt Volunteer Fire Department, Bayville Volunteer Fire Department, Pinewald Pioneer Volunteer Fire Department, Cassville Volunteer Fire Department, Whitesville Volunteer Fire Department, Manchester EMS, Manchester Office of Emergency Management and Berkeley Emergency Medical Services also responded.
