Expect Lots Of Noise From Joint Base Training Starting Friday
Training with howitzers, mortars and more will cause loud explosions that may be heard for miles. Check out tips for helping your dog cope.

JOINT BASE McGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, NJ — Get ready for the potential for rumbling and booms: the Joint Base will be holding training with heavy crew weapons through Tuesday.
The base's noise calendar for November shows high noise levels expected starting Friday produced by that training, which includes military members working with howitzers, mortars and "cratering charges."

Depending on weather conditions, the noise can travel for miles. Heavy weapons training in late October resulted in noise heard in Seaside Heights, northern stretches of Ocean County and in parts of Monmouth County.
For communities closer to the base, you may feel rumbling and feel the ground shake, and those closest to the base — in Manchester, Lakehurst and parts of Plumsted — will be especially affected.
