Manchester Council Approves $3.9 Million In Capital Spending

Of the $3.9 million, there will be $3.722 million in bonds for the various items, the resolution said.

MANCHESTER, NJ — Manchester Township will spend $3.9 million on various capital projects, including the purchase of new dump trucks for the public works department, after the Township Council approved the spending Tuesday night.

The ordinance includes bonding for $3,722,575 of the $3,918,500 in approved spending. Under the ordinance, the township has budgeted $2.4 millon for the following:

  • Four dump trucks with plows and spreaders
  • Three pickup trucks
  • Two landscape trailers
  • An air compressor
  • A replacement chipper
  • A snow plow for a front-end loader
  • Two replacement lowers
  • A replacement garbage truc
  • A replacement mechanic service truck
  • A replacement asphalt roller
  • A telescopic lift
  • A replacement street sweeper

and several smaller items. An additional $701,000 is budgeted for drainage projects on several streets, including part of Southhampton Boulevard and neighboring streets, and the town has budgeted more than $525,000 for various repairs and upgrades, including work at Town Hall.

There's also $260,000 for repairs to property managed by the recreation department.

One resident asked how the town will get rid of the trucks that are being replaced, and officials said typically when the township takes a truck out of service, it gets rid of what's remaining through the U.S. government auction site.
