Manchester Eases Rules For Outdoor Dining At Restaurants

Manchester is offering restaurants the ability to provide outdoor seating while restrictions remain in place in the coronavirus outbreak.

MANCHESTER, NJ — Manchester restaurants that want to offer outdoor dining to expand their capacity in the midst of the coronavirus outbreak can do that under a resolution approved by the Manchester Township Council.

The resolution approves temporary permits for outdoor dining areas that are good through Nov. 30. Fees for the permits are waived.

Gov. Phil Murphy announced last week that restaurants and bars could return to in-person dining beginning Monday. A number of restrictions will be in place to limit the spread of the coronavirus. Read more: Here's What To Do At NJ Bars, Restaurants Under Coronavirus Rules

The outdoor dining areas would be allowed to operate from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

The resolution requires restaurants to supply diagrams of where and how they would set up their outdoor dining and prohibits them from setting up on sidewalks.
