VIDEO: Quad Rider, 26, Charged With Thousands In Damage At Manchester High School: Police

Breaking: The rider tore up fields, ran over a softball fence and tried to ram the doors at the high school, police said.

MANCHESTER, NJ — It wasn't the finger that identified him, but it didn't take long: Eight hours after Manchester Township police posted photos of a quad rider who damaged fields and tried to ram the doors at the high school, they announced they had their man.

Tyler Kowalski, 26, of Wranglebrook Road, Manchester, was arrested and charged with criminal mischief in the Saturday's incident at Manchester Township High School, police said on Facebook.

"With assistance from our #FacebookDetectives in the investigation, #Quadzilla was identified as Tyler Kowalski, a 26 year old male from Lakehurst, NJ," police said in the update. "Thanks again to everyone who contributed to this investigation!"

In a news release, Manchester Capt. Todd Malland said police received numerous tips and Officer Christopher Cerullo and Detective Richard Jupinka were able to identify Kowalski as a result of those tips. Kowalski was located at his home and arrested. He was later released with a criminal summons with a court date, Malland said.

"This #Quadzilla went on a little #rampage on the Manchester Township High School grounds," police said in the first post about the incident. "First, #Quadzilla did some donuts on his red-and-black quad and tore up the soccer fields and then decided to take down some of the fences to the JV softball fields."

"#Quadzilla then 'smiled' for the camera at the front entrance of the high school as he attempted to ram his way through the front doors," police said.

Malland said the damage to the soccer fields and the fences on the JV softball field is estimated at $5,000. Additionally, Kowalski was also found to be responsible for damaging the front entrance to the high school when he attempted to drive his quad through the front doors of the building, Malland said.

This is not the first time there have been problems with quad riders damaging property in Manchester. Last spring, at least one quad tore up the fields at the Lakehurst Manchester Soccer Association complex, one of several acts of vandalism at the complex.

The Manchester Township Police Department would like to thank the public for their assistance in providing the information which lead to the identification and arrest of the perpetrator, Malland said.
