Six Flags, which operates Great Adventure in New Jersey has joined the list of amusement parks across the nation that have banned selfie sticks.
The company imposed the ban Monday at all of its parks, including Great Adventure, Katy Enrique, communications manager for Six Flags Great America, reported in a statement to NBC Chicago.

Enrique said the goal is to prevent incidents involving selfie sticks from taking place, although she didn’t specify whether any have occurred, according to NBC Philadelphia.
The move comes weeks after Disneyland, DisneyWorld and Disney Paris banished the selfie stick from the Magic Kingdom.

The stick, which allows users to snap selfies from more flattering angles, has become a growing safety concerning sometimes forcing the park to halt ride operations.
“We strive to provide a great experience for the entire family, and unfortunately selfie sticks have become a growing safety concern for both our guests and cast,” said Suzi Brown Director of Media Relations & External Communications at Disneyland Resort.
Much like the selfie stick, itself, the ban on selfie sticks is a growing trend. Concert venues and museums such as Coachella, Lollapalooza, the Kentucky Derby and the Smithsonian all ban the ubiquitous device.
