Victims Of Route 539 Car-Tractor Trailer Crash Identified

The car crossed the center line and hit the tractor-trailer head on, authorities said.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office released the identities Tuesday morning of the 18-year-old who was killed in Monday’s crash on Route 539 in Plumsted Township, as well as those of the 19-year-old driver and the driver of the tractor-trailer driver.

Alexander Pannizzo, 18, of Millstone was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, said Al Della Fave, spokesman for the prosecutor’s office. Dylan Magee, 19, of Millstone, the driver, was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center and had non-life-threatening injuries, he said.

Norman BIrd Jr., 73, of Allentown was taken to Hamilton Hospital, also with non-life-threatening injuries, he said.

Plumsted police were called at 9:49 a.m. Monday to respond to the crash, which happened when the 1995 Chevy Camaro Z28 carrying Magee and Pannizzo, which was southbound, crossed the center line and hit the 2014 Peterbuilt tractor trailer driven northbound by Bird head-on, Della Fave said.

The Plumsted Township Police Department, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI are continuing to investigate, he said.
