Tuesday, Sept. 4

  • Manchester's Planning Board will in the application of a 519-unit apartment complex on Route 37 when members meet for its regular meeting at 7 p.m. in the Municipal Complex courtroom.

  • School is back in session for Manchester and Lakehurst! Manchester's middle school students will attend the high school in a split session while . Lakehurst begins the new year with a . 

Thursday, Sept. 6

  • A $400,000 bond ordinance is up for a second reading and public comment before being voted on by members of Lakehurst's Borough Council at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Center on Center Street. Some residents are concerned that the money appropriated for improvements should include funds for a hydraulic rescue tool and have circulated a note on Facebook. The council said at the last meeting that, though departments were asked what equipment was needed before the bond was prepared, they will investigate whether the new equipment's inclusion is possible at this point.

  • Players of all ages and skill levels are invited to attend the Chess Club at  branch of the Ocean County Library at 12 p.m. The library asks that participants bring their own boards. Call 732-657-7600 for more information.

Saturday, Sept. 8

  • The works of local artist Joan Mabry will be displayed during a reception at Manchester's branch of the Ocean County Library from 2 to 4 p.m. Mabry's style encompasses pencil, charcoal, oil and acrylic works and will be displayed in the library's meeting room throughout September.
