2 Robberies Reported In Maplewood: Chinese Food Delivery on Parker Avenue, Maplecrest Park

Maplewood police reported that a pair of robberies took place in the township last week.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Maplewood police reported that a pair of robberies took place in the township last week.

According to the Maplewood Police Department, a female employee was delivering Chinese food on Parker Avenue around 3:20 p.m. on July 21 when a male suspect allegedly assaulted her and attempted to steal the food.

After conducting an investigation, Maplewood police identified Haqium Hope, 19, of Maplewood, as a suspect in the incident and charged him with robbery.

The delivery driver sustained minor injuries but refused medical attention, police said.

Another robbery was reported on July 22 in Maplecrest Park around 10:30 p.m., police said.

The male victim told police that a man in his early 20s approached him and pointed a handgun at him, then took cash before fleeing the scene.

No injuries were reported in the incident, police said.
