Apartment and Townhouse Burglarized This Week

A burglar gained entrance through an unlocked window to an apartment; the townhouse was broken into.

In two separated incidents this week, Maplewood residents had their homes burglarized.

The first incident took place on Saturday, August 20, when the resident of a second-floor Springfield Avenue apartment returned from being away for three days. The resident reported to Maplewood police that someone had gained entry to her apartment through an unlocked kitchen window and removed a Nintendo 64 game system and a Playstation 2 game system. Some jewelry was also taken from a bedroom in the apartment. The apartment was vacant from 5:00 p.m. on August 17 until 4:30 p.m. on August 20, when the burglary was discovered.

On Monday, August 22, a townhouse on Irvington Avenue was broken into just after 9:00 a.m. and several pieces of jewelry, a lap top computer and cash were taken. Police officers responded to an alarm call at the residence and discovered that the front door had been forced open. An interior check showed that the bedrooms had been disturbed and the items were removed.
