Blotter: Home Invasion Style Robbery Reported on Academy Street

The following information was provided by the Maplewood Police Department.

 

Maplewood residents on Academy Street report that three men armed with handguns kicked down the door to their home on March 8 after 10 p.m.

The men allegedly demanded money from the homeowners then fled the seen in what is described as a late model, four-door, black Nissan.

The incident reportedly took place at 10:25 p.m. The men are described as black. The Maplewood Police Department is investigating.

March 5, 2012: Theft from Vehicle. A Newark Way resident reported that unknown suspect(s) removed the factory installed tires and rims from his late model Nissan Maxima between the hours of 11:00 pm on 3/3/12 and 8:10 am on 3/4/12.

March 5, 2012: Theft. A a 17 year old female and her father responded to police headquarters to report the theft of a wallet. The victim reported that while walking home from school eastbound on Parker Ave. near Coolidge Road, an unknown suspect ran up from behind her and brushed against her coat which she had been carrying. Shortly after, she checked her coat pocket and found her wallet missing. The wallet reportedly contained cash and gift cards. The victim describes the suspect as a tall black male, thin with muscles, approximately seventeen years of age. He was wearing saggy jeans, a dark shirt or coat, multi-colored hat and sneakers. He was last seen running east on Parker Avenue towards Boyden Ave.

March 6, 2012: Theft. A Rutgers Street business reported the theft of (9) batteries from trucks and chipper equipment on site. The incident allegedly occurred during the overnight hours.

March 7, 2012: Robbery. A Crestwood Drive resident reported that he was approached in his driveway by two males in their twenties. One suspect then allegedly struck the victim with the handgun. The suspects were last seen heading east on Collinwood Rd. in a black compact import car. At this time it is believed that the act was not random in nature. Detectives are still investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident.
