Blotter: Two Home Burglaries in Maplewood

The following information was supplied by the Maplewood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The Maplewood police report two home burglaries in Maplewood this past week. One took place on Woodside Road, the other on Mapelwood Avenue — two separate neighborhoods in different areas of town. In both incidents, the second-floor bedrooms had been ransacked and jewelry and cameras were missing. However, Maplewood Police Capt. Paul Conlon said, "There is no connection at this point."

Oct. 11, 2011: Burglary- A Maplewood Avenue resident returned home from work at approximately 6 p.m. to find someone had ransacked the second-floor bedrooms of the home. Pieces of jewelry and two cameras were reported missing by the homeowner. Detectives were unable to locate any signs of forced entry to the doors or windows. The victim reported to police that it is possible that a rear door may have been left unlocked.

Oct 14, 2011: Burglary- At 1:38 p.m., patrols responded to a Woodside Road home in response to an alarm activation. When officers arrived, they saw a broken lock and pry marks on the side storm door. While searching the home, the officers discovered the second-floor bedrooms were ransacked. Detectives were able to confirm with the homeowner several pieces of jewelry and a Rebel digital camera were taken from the bedrooms.
