Blotter: Two Maplewood Officers Injured During Narcotics Arrest

The following arrest information was supplied by the Maplewood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Two Maplewood police officers sustained minor injuries during the Oct. 1 arrest of a Newark man who was allegedly selling marijuana near the NJ Transit parking garage on Springfield Avenue near Irvington.

Tyquan Bunn, 28, of Newark, was taken into custody following a suspicious person call. As officers made contact with Bunn at the parking garage ramp, Bunn took off running in an attempt to flee from the officers.

Bunn was captured after a short foot pursuit, attempting to scale the fence surrounding the Maplewood Pool. As the officers were placing Bunn in custody he began to fight, resulting in injuries to Sgt. Dave Cross and Ptl. John Mazzola.
