Car Accident on Elmwood Near Irvington Border

At approximately 3:30 p.m., a car accident took place on Elmwood Avenue and Brookwood Drive near the Irvington/Maplewood border. Patch saw one injured party being removed by stretcher and placed in a waiting ambulance. We have contacted Maplewood Police and the Maplewood Fire Department for further information.

Maplewood Fire Department Captain Joseph Callaghan reports that two people were taken to the hospital with back and neck injuries. One, a teenager, needed to be extricated from the car. Said Calllaghan, "He was in pain but not seriously injured. He was transported by Rescue 36 to Saint Barnabas Medical Center."
