Carjacking on Van Ness Terrace Monday Morning
The victim sustained injuries to her head and face. A Honda Accord was taken.

Yesterday morning, a woman was injured as she tried to stop a carjacker from stealing her Honda Accord from her Van Ness Terrace driveway in the Hilton neighborhood. Meanwhile, police apprehended an Irvington juvenile on Sunday who had a backpack full of items stolen from about 10 automobiles in the Parker Avenue area on Friday morning.

May 19, 2010: Burglary—A resident from Meadowbrook Place reported that someone entered into her home between noon and 2:30 p.m. and broke into a filing cabinet in a second floor bedroom. The actor removed some expensive jewelry and some cash from the cabinet. A point of entry could not be determined by Detectives who are still investigating the incident.

May 20, 2010: Lewdness—Scott Ashley, 61, of Maplewood Avenue, was arrested by Detectives and charged with Lewdness after receiving a report that Mr. Ashley had exposed himself to an adult female. The victim reported to Police that Mr. Ashley could be seen for a period of time, naked, in front of an open second floor window of the Maplewood Avenue home.
May 21, 2010: Thefts from Autos—Police received calls from ten residents reporting that their cars were entered into during the overnight hours. In many of the reports the vehicles were unlocked and the residents reported a number of items missing including money and electronics devices such as GPS units and IPODs. The incidents occurred in the area of Parker Avenue and the surrounding side streets.

May 23, 2010: Theft Arrest—Patrols were called to a Schaefer Road home shortly before 1:00 a.m. by a female resident reporting that she had just witnessed a teenage male inside of her car. Patrols located a 17-year-old male from Rich Street in Irvington fleeing from the area and charged him with the burglary to the auto. The juvenile was found to be in possession of a backpack that contained many items reported stolen from autos on May 21, 2010. After confirming the thefts with several victims, the juvenile was charged with Receiving Stolen Property. The Essex County Sheriff's Department also had an outstanding warrant for the subject and he was turned over to the Youth House.
May 24, 2010: Carjacking—At approximately 6:00 a.m. a female resident of Van Ness Terrace was switching cars around in her driveway and left a 2003 Honda Accord running at the curb. As the woman was removing another car from the driveway a black male, 18-24 years of age, entered the Accord and tried to drive away. In seeing this, the female attempted to stop the subject and tried to open the driver's side door of the car as it was pulling away. The victim fell to the ground and sustained injuries to her head and face. The actor then fled the scene in the stolen Honda Accord. The suspect is described as 18 to 24 years of age, with medium-length dread locks, wearing a dark baseball cap, and a dark colored t-shirt. The victim received medical treatment at the scene but declined transportation to the hospital.
