Free Children's Concert -- Winds and Brass and Drums! Oh My!

Maplewood Community Music is proud to announce their upcoming children’s concert, Winds and Brass and Drums! Oh My! This performance is a special collaboration between the Maplewood Community Concert Band under the direction of Steve Kimmons and the Maplewood Middle School Wind Ensemble under the direction of Christopher Balas. The concert will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 2 p.m. in the Maplewood Middle School Auditorium, 7 Burnet Street, Maplewood. ADMISSION IS FREE.

This performance will take its audience on a musical tour featuring virtually every section of the band. Part of the tour will be an encapsulated history of wind band music, from the very first piece written and published for concert band to the world premiere of a piece written by one of our members especially for this performance. This event is hosted by the Maplewood Middle School Wind Ensemble, who will open the concert. The Maplewood Community Concert Band will follow and then both bands will combine for a fun finale!

Maplewood Community Music, a 501(c)(3) tax exempt nonprofit, operates eight instrumental ensembles comprised primarily of hobbyist musicians from all walks of life. The organization is dedicated to performing free public concerts throughout the Maplewood area and offers and supports numerous community and youth music enrichment programs.
