MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Tuesday is the last day to register to vote in the upcoming June primary races for local and statewide elections, including the race for one open Maplewood Township Committee seat.
The office of the Maplewood Township Clerk will remain open until 9 p.m. Tuesday (May 17). All county offices handling voter registration must be open late that day as well, but it's optional for town clerks, according to the state.
Besides congressional and countywide races, two candidates in Maplewood are facing off to be the Democratic nominee for an open seat on the five-member Maplewood Township Committee.

In an unusual move, the local Democratic Committee has endorsed both Deborah Engel and Kurt Kiley. The voters will choose one on June 7, and that person will face off against any other candidate for the seat in November.
