Maplewood Police Make Warrant Arrest, Arrests for Theft

The following arrest information was supplied by the Maplewood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Maplewood police made three major arrests in the past two weeks — one for threats to kill and possession of a firearm, and the others for theft, according to Police Captain Paul Conlon.

On July 30, Conlon reports that Maplewood police arrested David McClaire, age 30, of Meeker St., South Orange, on a warrant prepared by Detective Albert Sally for threats to kill, possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm with an unlawful purpose.

McClaire was alleged to have waived a firearm during a party at an Oregon Street home on July 2 when he was involved in a verbal argument with one of the other guests. Detective Sally identified McClair as the suspect in the incident after an extensive investigation. MClair is being held in the Essex County Jail on $50,000 bail pending arraignment.

On August 5, Maplewood Police Officer Michael Palmerezzi was patrolling in the area of Schaeffer Road at approximately 3:35 a.m. when he heard a car alarm activation. As Palmerezzi was investigating the incident, he located two teenagers walking on Jacoby Street and stopped them for questioning.

During the stop it was discovered that one subject, Todd Graham, 18, of Irvington Avenue in Maplewood, had an outstanding warrant. Graham was taken into custody. The second teenager, a 17 year old from Newark, was also taken in to headquarters to be turned over to his parents.

While officers were processing Graham on the warrant arrest, they discovered that he had a Nuvi GPS unit in his possession that was found to be stolen from a car on Hughes Street just prior to being stopped by Palmerezzi. Graham was charged with Receiving Stolen Property in addition to the warrant. The 17 year old was turned over to a parent after being charged with Hindering Apprehension for providing false information to the Police Officers.
