Maplewood Resident Robbed at Gunpoint in SO
Also, Maplewood PD confirms a report of another robbery which took place in Maplewood's Memorial Park at 1 a.m. on July 3.
Update: Patch received confirmation via telephone at 10:30 a.m. today from Maplewood Police Captain Paul Conlon of a report of a robbery of five teens in Maplewood's Memorial Park at around 1 a.m. on July 3. We will address that report in a separate story. Captain Conlon expects to have full details by noon.
The South Orange Police Department has confirmed the report of a robbery of a Maplewood resident at gunpoint on South Ridgewood Road early Saturday morning, July 3. The victim was robbed of his cell phones and iPod. He was unharmed.

Armed Robbery
A Maplewood resident stated that he was walking home along South Ridgewood Rd. on July 3, 2010, at approximately 1:10 a.m. when he was robbed by two actors brandishing a silver hand gun. The actors demanded the victim's cell phones and Ipod before fleeing the scene. The victim stated that a black female was across the street waiting for the actors to complete the robbery. The actors are described as two black males wearing dark clothing and in their early twenties. Unknown if a vehicle was used by the actors as they fled on foot. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.

Strong Armed Robbery/ Bicycle
A 12-year-old South Orange resident stated that he was riding his bicycle on Grove Rd. on 7-2-10 at approximately 6:20 p.m. when he was approached by a black male approximately 14-years-old. The actor punched the victim in the face knocking him from his bicycle and then the actor preceded to steal same. The actor is described as wearing a light colored t-shirt and having dreadlocks. The bicycle stolen during the robbery is an orange low rider style with black pegs. The actor left behind at the scene a purple and silver Glamor Girl bike. The matter is being investigated.
Armed Robbery
A South Orange resident who resides on South Orange Ave. stated that she was robbed at gun point of her money, cell phone and two pizzas as she was standing outside her residence on 7-3-10 at approximately 1:30 am. The victim stated that she was robbed by two black males described as being in their early twenties. The victim stated that the actors fled the area east on South Orange Ave. into Newark in a red mini van being operated by a female. The actor's were in possession of a silver handgun. The South Orange Police Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.
