Maplewood Swears in Four New Police Officers
The four new officers will fill vacant positions created by retirements from the department in the past few months.

On Wednesday, Sept. 14, Township Clerk Liz Fritzen presided over the swearing-in ceremony for four new police officers recently hired by Maplewood Police Department.
The four new officers will fill vacant positions created by retirements from the department in the past few months. Three of the four new recruits will be attending the Essex County College Police Academy which starts Monday, September 19, 2011, with an expected graduation date of Feb. 15, 2012.
The fourth officer, Christopher Kelly from East Hanover, NJ, will begin nine weeks of department field training immediately since he is already certified by the NJ Police Training Commission.

Attending the Police Academy will be Peter Klebaur of Neshanic Station, N.J., Steven Gyimoty of Lakehurst, N.J., and Brian Rodrigues of Union, N.J.
Upon graduation, the new recruits will also participate in a nine-week field training program within the department.
