Maplewood to Observe National Night Out August 2 at DeHart Center — and Throughout Town

The Maplewood Police Department invites the public to join them in the National Night Out Against Crime and the DeHart Community Center and DeHart Park — and through porch vigils.

invites the public to join them in the National Night Out Against Crime on Tuesday, August 2 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the at 120 Burnett Avenue.

This year marks the 28th year that the National Association of Town Watches will hold its annual nationwide crime prevention event.

The National Night Out event is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, strengthen police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

The event will include pictures with Batman, a Karate demonstration, a wiffle ball home run derby, plus prizes and give-aways for adults and kids. Hot dogs, refreshments and Italian ice will also be available.

All members of the community are cordially invited to participate in this year’s program. If you can't attend, the Maplewood Police Department asks that you observe the long-standing tradition of displaying outdoor lights and holding porch vigils.
