More Thefts Reported at Pool Parking Lot

But this time the police have a description of an alleged perpetrator.

Three more thefts from the Maplewood Community Pool parking lot on Boyden Avenue were reported during the last week.

According to the police blotter, the three vehicles that were entered were all unlocked. Valuable were taken from each. The thefts all took place last Tuesday, August 10, during daylight hours. A witness to two of thefts provided Maplewood Police with a description of the alleged perpetrator: a black male in his early twenties, approximately 6-feet tall, with a thin build, close-cropped hair, and wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.

Previously, a GPS was stolen from a car  on August 9 and a bicycle was stolen from the bike parking lot at the pool on August 2.

In response to the parking lot thefts Maplewood Police Captain Paul Conlon said, "The Police would like to issue a reminder to the public to lock your vehicle's doors and keep valuables out of sight." Conlon suggested placing valuables such as GPS units, radios and cellphones either in the trunk or in the glove compartment.

Finally, police reported one home burglary this week: On August 12, between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., unknown actors gained entry to a Fairview Terrace home by breaking a basement window. Once inside, the actors removed several pieces of jewelry, a digital camera and a Wii game console.
