News-Record: Crime Drops in Town
Police Chief reports an overall decrease of 8.9% in major crimes in 2011.

A 39 percent drop in burglaries in 2011, compared to 2010 numbers, contributed to an overall decrease of 8.9% in major crimes in Maplewood last year, according to a report in the News-Record.
Maplewood Chief of Police Robert Cimino told the News-Record that burglaries had dropped from 106 in 2010 to 64 in 2011 thanks to increased "checks and inspections" by officers in areas where the PD either anticipated crime will occur, according to intelligence, or where crimes had already occurred.
Cimino also said that the Maplewood Police Department had been working closely with surrounding police departments and sharing intelligence.
